WrenchMap

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 3, 2026

1. Overview

WrenchMap (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates https://www.wrenchmap.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices — including how we use Google Analytics, advertising services, and affiliate partnerships. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide

When you submit a lead form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, ZIP code, vehicle details, and service description so we can connect you with the mechanic you contacted.

b. Automatically collected information

When you visit WrenchMap, we and our third-party partners automatically collect:

  • IP address (anonymized before storage)
  • Browser type and version, operating system, device type
  • Referring URL, pages visited, and time spent on pages
  • Cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To connect you with the mechanic you requested service from
  • To analyze site traffic and improve the directory (via Google Analytics)
  • To serve relevant advertisements (via Google AdSense and similar networks)
  • To measure the performance of affiliate and partner links
  • To prevent fraud, spam, and abuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects data such as pages visited, session duration, and approximate location derived from your IP address. This data is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

We have enabled IP anonymization, which means Google truncates your IP address before storage. We do not merge Analytics data with personally identifiable information.

Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Cookies and Advertising

WrenchMap uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use the following categories:

  • Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g., security, session state).
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure site usage (see Section 4).
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google and other advertising partners to serve and measure ads (see below).

Google AdSense & Interest-Based Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google and its partners, including DoubleClick, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to WrenchMap and other websites. The use of advertising cookies allows Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of interest-based advertising in several ways:

You can also disable cookies entirely in your browser settings. Note that doing so may affect site functionality. More information about how Google uses data when you use our site is available at How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps.

6. Affiliate Links & Sponsored Content

WrenchMap may include affiliate links — links to third-party products or services where we may earn a commission if you make a purchase or take a qualifying action, at no additional cost to you. We will always clearly label affiliate links or sponsored content at the point where they appear.

This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).

7. Data Storage & Retention

Lead form submissions are stored securely in our database (Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure). We retain lead data for up to 12 months and delete it after that period unless a longer retention is required by law. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s data retention settings (default 26 months). You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 9).

8. Third-Party Links

Mechanic listing pages and advertisements may contain links to external websites. WrenchMap is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

9. Your Rights & Choices

All users

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing privacy@wrenchmap.com. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (1) know what personal information we collect and how it is used; (2) request deletion of your personal information; and (3) opt out of the “sale” of your personal information. WrenchMap does not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email privacy@wrenchmap.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.”

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data, as well as the right to object to processing. 10. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit Do Not Track (DNT) signals. Because there is no agreed-upon standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, WrenchMap does not currently alter its data practices based on DNT signals. You can use the opt-out links in Section 5 to limit tracking.

11. Children's Privacy

WrenchMap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice. Continued use of WrenchMap after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
